Who owns this place? 29th Sultan Of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah is the owner of  this palace and it is the largest residential palace in the world. It is named as “Istana Nurul Iman”.







According to Guinness World Records, it is the largest single family residence ever built. It has a land area of 21,52,782 square foot ( 200000 square meter ) Architect Leandro V. Locsin designed the palace and the interior designs were done by Khuan Chew. Ayala Corporation constructed the palace at a total cost of around $1.4- $1.5 billion. It was completed in 1984.




The palace contains 1,788 rooms including 257 bathrooms, a banquet hall that can accommodate up to 5,000 guests, a mosque accommodating 1,500 people.

The palace includes a an air conditioned stable for the Sultan's 200 polo ponies, and five swimming pools. 110 separate garages house 7000 cars of Sultan.
 His car collection includes 365 Ferraris, 275 Lamborghinis, 258 Aston Martins, 172 Bugattis, 230 Porsches, 350 Bentleys, 600 Rolls Royces, 440 Mercedes Benzes, 265 Audis, 237 BMWs, 225 Jaguars and 183 Land Rovers and most of them were custom made.







It has 17 floors, 564 chandeliers, 51000 light bulbs, 44 stairwells and 18 elevators. Every year 110,000 visitors are welcomed over a three day period where they receive gifts of food and packets containing money for young children.



Situated in the Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, surrounded by hills and Brunei river, this is an enormous architectural beauty.
