If you watch movies or series and Netflix is your favourite, then this post is for you to know about this.....

In August 29, 1997 Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings founded Netflix in Scotts valley, California. Their aim was to take on home video sales and rental industry which accounted for $16 billion dollars at that time.

 

Hastings was once fined $40 dollars for being late to return a copy of apollo 13 and it influenced him to start Netflix. With 30 employees and 925 tittles, Netflix was launched as world’s first online DVD rental store.

In September 1999, Netflix started monthly subscription. In 2000 with 300000 subscribers, Netflix was offered to be acquired for $50 million dollars by Blockbuster. In 2002 Netflix started their journey in stock exchange. Their first profit came in 2003 fiscal year.

 

 

From 2007 Netflix gradually increased video on demand service via internet. With growing subscribers, Netflix started their original production.

According to global internet phenomena report, Netflix consumes 15% of all internet bandwidth globally which is most by any single application.

Some of the best Netflix original programme includes: Stranger Things, House of cards, Orange is the new black, The crown, Narcos, 13 Reasons Why, Ozark, Mind hunter, When they see us, The Witcher, Russian doll, Dark, Sacred Games, Kingdom, King the eternal monarch, Delhi crime, Elite and many more.

 

Also Netflix funded and brought back some beloved series which was initially ended by starting productions. Money Heist, Arrested development includes in the list.

With many outstanding original contents, Netflix received various nominations and awards. Netflix received numerous nominations in various Award shows and won many of them. Their achievements include

1. Academy awards: 54 nominations and 8 wins.

2. Primetime Emmy Awards: 224 nominations and 93 wins

3. Daytime Emmy Awards: 56 nominations and 31 wins 

4. Golden globe awards: 26 nominations and 12 wins

Highest awards received by Netflix original series are Orange is the new black (46), House of cards (27), The Crown (24), Stranger Things (17)

With an estimated net worth of $125 Billion Dollars and 182.8 million subscribers Netflix stays strong.
